Hartford commercial permit COM-ALT-25-000060 (Commercial Alteration Permit): Structure is an 8 unit apartment building. We are rebuilding apartment Unit A3 to address damages caused by a fire including electrical, insulation, drywall, kitchen cabinets/countertops, flooring, windows, doors, electrical, heating, and finish plumbing. New drywall will be installed in the first floor common area. The entry doors from the common area to all 8 units will be replaced due to being kicked in by the fire department. The entire interior of the building will be painted. NOTE: Additional construction details: Replacement entry doors to each of the 8 units will be self-closing, solid core, 20min fire rated doors with steel knock down jambs, unless otherwise requires. Plaster has been removed from the walls and ceilings in Unit A-3 (burn unit), the common hallway, stairs leading to the 2nd level, and on 1 adjoining wall in Unit A-1. 5/8" fire rated sheetrock will be used to replace these walls and ceilings. None of the framing in Unit A-3 was damaged by the fire, however supplemental framing around the windows may be needed due to the fact that it is outdated. We will not be changing the layout of this unit from what it was previous to the fire. The only changes will be associated with code requirements on an as needed basis. All windows in the burn unit, which are located on the rear and left side of the house, will be replaced with like kind and quality to match all the other windows on the house which are 6 over 6 vinyl replacement windows. 2 windows facing the street on the 3rd floor in unit C-1 will need to be replaced as well. New emergency exit signs and lighting will be installed in the common hallways on all levels. NOTE:I received a call from Steve Waldie. He asked that I clarify the soundproofing/ insulation we intend to use. Our plan is R13 for the walls to fill the 2x4 cavity and R30 for the ceilings unless the code requires otherwise. We will use the existing furring strips mounted to the ceiling joists as our added sound proofing between the 1st and 2nd floor. We are not planning to soundproof the shared wall between Units A-3 and A-1, again unless this is required by code.. 9 NORTH BEACON ST, HARTFORD, CT 06105.
