Project overview
Hartford commercial permit COM-ALT-25-000548 (Commercial Alteration Permit): 1. Repair the perimeter Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) foundation wall partially supporting the rear steel egress stairs. The top courses of the wall shall be carefully removed and rebuilt to address eroded mortar and damaged CMU blocks. Temporary shoring of the steel egress stairs and concrete slab will be required during the repairs. 2. Anchor steel egress stair posts to the rebuilt CMU foundation wall. Existing embedded metal plates may be reused if the attached headed studs are found to be adequate. 3. Clean the entire steel egress stair structure of all existing rust and paint. 4. Inspect all stair posts. Longitudinal cracks shall be continuously welded to prevent further separation. 5. Strengthen all stair posts exhibiting excessive section loss by welding steel plates continuously on all sides. 6. Refasten all stair treads to the stair stringers. Any stair treads exhibiting excessive section loss shall be removed and replaced. 7. First intermediate landing supports to be removed and replaced with new steel angles welded to the posts and channel. 8. Strengthen all landing support channels and stair stringer channels exhibiting excessive section loss by welding steel plates/steel angles to the existing members. Plates shall be continuously welded on all sides. 9. Remove and replace all landing steel plates. Inspect and strengthen all floor steel plates where excessive section loss is present. 10.After completion of all structural repairs, prime and paint the entire steel stair system with an exterior-grade, rust-resistant protective coating.. 51 BEDFORD ST, HARTFORD, CT 06120.
