The terms for using SpecIndex.

The public index

• The project index and every project page are free to browse, with no account required. We publish facts sourced from public bid, permit, and specification records, each with a citation to where it was found.
• We do not resell bid documents or specification books. We read public records and publish the facts extracted from them, with a link back to the source.
• A brand check is free and does not require an account. It shows how many projects and documents name a brand within the scope you choose.

Territory subscriptions

• A Territory subscription is priced per territory (one US state, or one top-50 metro), billed monthly or annually, at the rates published on the pricing page at the time you subscribe. Adding territories beyond the first applies the published volume ladder automatically.
• Monthly subscriptions may be cancelled at any time and remain active through the end of the current billing period. Annual subscriptions may be cancelled and will not renew, but are not refunded for the remainder of the paid term.
• A subscription covers everyone at your firm and every agency you work with in that territory. We do not charge per seat.

Acceptable use

• Accounts are for your own use and the use of your firm or agency. Do not share login credentials outside your organization, or scrape, resell, or republish SpecIndex’s data as a competing product.
• Automated access beyond normal product use (bulk scraping, load testing, or circumventing rate limits) is not permitted without a written agreement.

Accuracy and disclaimers

• We read and publish public records as accurately as we can, but source documents change, are amended, or are withdrawn, and a citation reflects what a document said when we read it. SpecIndex is not a substitute for reviewing the underlying document yourself before relying on it for a bid or a business decision.
• The service is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes to Territory pricing or billing terms will not apply retroactively to an active subscription’s current paid period. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
